"Carson City Hoard" ?

Saw a 1882 CC on ebay that is slabbed by NGC and is graded as "circulated" and labeled "Carson City Hoard".

 

I am sure there is a story; anyone care to share it?

Wow yes just check it out would love to hear that story to. I think some years ago the US mint sold out CC coins but not sure if they called it that.

123cents link is for information on the GSA hoard. Normally if NGC slabs a coin from those sales they put GSA hoard on the label so this sound like something else.

Maybe it is similar to the “GSA Hoard” nonsense where NGC was talked into adding a designation for something that was simply sales hype.
