World Coin Book Library

2 posts in this topic

I am thinking of getting together books that cover coins from all over the world, and am hoping you guys can give me some good advice.

My idea is to have a reference library to be able to look up ANY coin from ANY country with ANY date/mint mark. This is for reference only---if values are included, so much the better but not necessary. Would also like to include coins made that were not meant for trade or barter, such as tokens and medals.

Where/what would you start me out with?

Thanks a bunch!

David

Unless you have a ton of cash to brun, you'd be best off getting a couple of books and using a local library for the rest.

The Krause World Coin books are fairly good. They (4) cover 1600-present. You can find books dedicated to different token areas, such as So-Called Dollars, Civil War Tokens, Store Cards, etc.

Many of the books are out of print and you'll need to search the online used book stores.
