Stike Characteristics on Elgin Commems

3 posts in this topic

I'm not that familiar with Elgins. I'm looking at a particular one that seems very nice. Pretty much mark free, but the strike looks weak. I'm not sure if that is common on these or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Richard

The Elgin is a low-relief coin, and you will not find one that doesn't seem "flat". They are also very common in high grades, so don't pay a premium for one! For that matter, in my opinion, true retail on these is below greysheet. I will not buy one for inventory for more than 15% back of sheet.

If I'm not mistaken, "agentjim007" here on the boards is from Elgin.
