The 1883 is actually a Type I reverse, the CC reverse is indeed a Type II reverse. 73-cc will have a TII reverse w/ the split ribbon & E will be closer to the wreath. Ok, its time for bed. The name dates back to the early 1930s and appears to have been first used in Hobbies Magazine. However, I have reason to believe it may have been used earlier in another publication entitled Philatelic West. Have not got around to doing this search yet.
