Too often you find beaver that has rub on it. Who wants a beaver that's got a lot of rub on it? Finding a nice, clean, fully formed beaver that doesn't look like it has been abused can be a challenge. That's why those are prized and command higher resources to obtain.

One may prefer toned or untoned beaver. I like nearly all natural beaver, as long as there are no contaminants. Also, it's hard to know if the beaver is best when well struck, but a beaver with missing details can be disturbing.

The beaver when struck so boldly on the reverse can yield a terrific view. I prefer it in white. I have seen them whizzed, and it isn't pretty. devil.gif

What about hairlines or artificial toning? Do they contribute to bagging the beaver?
