What is the grade on this 1812 Capped Bust Half?

10 posts in this topic

I'd call it VF 30

all the major hair detail shows but the tops of the waves of hair are worn flat. The high points of the feathers show definite wear.

I could see this being called EF, even by the grading services, but VF30 in my mind, is the real grade.

EF45--I don't know what the rim nick on the reverse between 3 and 4 o'clock would do against the grade if anything, but it might lower it. Take a real photo of the coin and let us see its lustre-I have a feeling their will be some.

I have one of these O-103's in a 45 holder with less wear. I think this one is either a 35 or a 40, and would likely get a 40 me thinks.
