Can anyone tell me if this is a real error?

I received this dime in change today. Can anyone tell me if it looks like it could be a real error coin? The reverse is perfectly normal, but the obverse looks like it has been flattened around the edge while the center retained normal detail. It is perfectly round and from what I can tell the same diameter and thickness as a normal dime. The reeding on the edge looks normal as well.

Thanks

John

Bill,

That’s what I thought also due to the pattern of angled lines along the rim, but what gets me is there are no tool marks at all and everything else about the coin is normal. It almost looks like a strike through grease if it where not for those lines.

Thanks

John
