Here is a 1943 Copper Cent... I bought this for cheap(It was in an old antique store, So I could not pass on the oprotunity) you never know till you give it the test... I know is it a fake, but some for someone new to coins it would seem very real... nice color, but it failed the magnet test... still nice to look at.. Here is the front...

And I believe that person was in Memphis. I remember reading that story. Of course, my first thought was lucky guy. Second was "why not me?" smile.gif

Speaking of stories like that......I know a somebody who is into Roman Coins.... he was at a Coin shop in Lubbock, Tx found a coin he like, bought it but thinking the price was alittle high... well after looking into it a bit more he found out that he had a priceless coin.... mabye yall know what I am talking about... It is a roman coin that was Issued to 9 Generals of his army.... Has stars on the neck.. Silver coin.. Well with only 9 being made... it is Ultra Rare.. not even sure how many still survive... Story was that in WW2 Germany had all 9 of these and we when went into Germany some of our Military Generals got these .. one found its way back to TX... then he bought it... He Contacted the the British Musuem and they were ready to fly him on the concord.. that same day... for conformation on the coin.... He Ended up DONATING IT to the Smithsonian Musuem... Thats the find of the century I would think....

About the gold coin in a vending machine: I'm not sure that a vending machine would handle such a coin, even for change. The weight and electronic signature would be vastly different, and the only such coin I can think of to match the size of a nickel, dime, or quarter would be a $5 gold piece. Seems like a fishing story to me... insane.gif
