Charging Postage...

7 posts in this topic

I had a guy buy a coin off of me on ebay who returned the coin and said he would like a refund or if I had another coin ,Same grade that he would like that.Well I had another coin and sent it.I didn't charge him to send the other coin but now he sent the coin back and said he wants a refund.

Do I charge him S/H for the second coin?Should I deduct it from the money I am sending him? popcorn.gif

Hmm, good question. I would probably refund the guy's bid in full and then block him from bidding on any future listings. Unless he's already left feedback, there's always a chance his blood sugar will be low when he receives your garnisheed refund, resulting in a Negative for you.

Good luck,

MM,

What does your auction say about refund and shipping policy? Some sellers say that a refund will be sent minus shipping. It sounds like your doing the right thing, but why is he returning the coins? Please make sure he is not swapping coins on you either. I have heard from friends that have that happen to them.

The coins were MS 67 1995 DDO"S NGC of course. The first one he said wasn't a 67......The second one he said The L in Liberty was too week.It doesn't matter as I have a 7 day no ? return.I didn't say anything about deducting S/H from from the final price but He is the one that asked for another coin.

I personally think he was looking for a 68 in a 67 slab.

I would refund his purchase price. Don't refund postage and don't charge him for shipping the second coin.

You could have just accepted the return and not sent another coin. If he kept the coin, would you expect more money for S&H on that coin or be happy it sold? If you didn't bill him S&H on the exchange, then I don't think it is fair to deduct S&H just because he doesn't like it.

Also, block him from bidding. He needs to buy coins in person if he is this picky. eBay is not the place for him!

Perhaps he's just waiting for you to invite him over to your place for lunch while he cherry picks the shyte out of your collection...
