eBay winner 22 days late with no payment...

10 posts in this topic

and I filed the NPB with eBay for the 33 count 'em!, 33 items he won at my auction!

The next thing eBay wants is to still "try to work things out with the buyer" giving him another 7 days to do so. Ony then can you file for a refund of your listing costs and re-run your item(s). The first item he won closed 9-17 and the last one he won closed 10-5. Being the nice guy that I am, I allowed him to NOT pay as he won bid after bid and figured it would be easier for us both, if we waited til all my items had closed. So I am partly to blame, I guess.

The last contact I had with him was on the phone last Friday where he PROMISED to over-night a money order to me and call me when it had been sent. Well, guess what. No money order and no phone call and no answer to my email to him. I have since, as of yesterday, emailed him AGAIN, requesting an over-night money order and giving him until Tuesday for it to arrive. I do not expect to get it.

The inconvenience some of the bidding winners put the sellers through, should have a penalty built in. If eBay does not show payment for an item within say, seven days and/or does not hear from the seller stating that the time limit has been extended as agreed to by BOTH parties, then I would like to see a one time week suspension from bidding/selling.

To me, this is a very serious offense. Any place else you go to buy something, either you make arrangements with the seller for payment or you pay for it then and there. To allow high bidders the benefit of the doubt and allowed to not pay past 7 days, is tantamount to theft. He has your money, you have his goods. You have probably already made decisions regarding the purchase money and when it is not forthcoming in a timely manner, it is YOU who has to reorganize things to fit the convenience of the non-payer. sign-rantpost.gif893frustrated.gifinsane.gif!!!

And I too, ALWAYS pay as soon as I can at close. Being a seller and a buyer, I see both sides of the street as I am sure alot of you do too. I would NEVER inconvenience a seller with late payment and/or non-communication. I guess it is too much to ask that everybody felt the same way.

That's too bad. I kind of worry when one bidder wins too many of my auctions because of insufficiently_thoughtful_persons like this! Don't you get NARU'd if you have a -3 feedback? if so can you nail him with enough negs to oust him from ebay? or does it not work like this? mike

I don't know what it is now, but it was -4 at one point. I gave some deadbeat feedback which knocked him to -4 and waited and waited for him to get NARUed. Finally I wrote eBay to complain and they NARUed him and explained that sometimes the system doesn't catch them. mad.gif

When you get 3 reports of not paying you get booted.

I filed the NPBs for all 33 items with eBay on the 27th. They, by policy, are making me wait another 10 days to "...still try to work things out...". This policy assumes the buyer wishes to work with the seller, and returns phone calls and/or emails, staying in contact with each other TRYING to work it out.

In my case, the last time I had contact with him was on the phone last Friday where he promised to over-night a money order to me. It hasn't showed yet and he will not return my phone messages or emails. How am I expected to "...work things out..." if it is only one-sided? eBays policy in this regard, benefits the buyer in further extending and delaying you receiving your money back from them from the listing fees. I CANNOT file for them until the 10 days have passed.

Now I am POed at eBay for this "bank" tactic to further draw interest from the fees I paid in the first place to list the items originally! mad.gif

So it has now been 25 days since his last won item closed. No $550. from him do buy with, cannot re-list my items, and forced to wait another week before they will accept a SUBMISSION for final value refund of fees. I am quite sure it will then take them another week to do so. insane.gif

Lesson learned? Do not sell to a <50 feedback response buyer, do not allow them to continue to bid and win on items without paying unless 5 items are paid for at a time ASAP (within 5 days of closing), and don't try to speed up the process with eBay, Safe Harbor or instant chat as it will all be for naught.

After reading about your plight I can certainly sympathize with you . I too have had a few similiar experiences selling on e-bay. The only advice I am able to lend is try not to let this experience ruin what is usually a very good selling outlet . As opposed to the wholesale price most dealers offer. I can relate to the loss of fees, time, and the hassle of the whole ordeal. But , I still prefer e-bay over dealers hands down.

Good Luck and Best Wishes with your endevours ! 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

UPDATE:

I have given my NPB 33 negs for his non-payment. I have 2 more days to wait before I can file for refund of listing monies. Still no contact from this guy, and do not expect it to be forthcoming. Actually, I am kind of glad it worked out this way as my first listings could have been better pictured and/or worded. I think I may realize more money the second time around then I did the first time!

Haven't checked to see if he has made any comebacks to the negs. I think HE thinks it is ok as he will probably not bid on any items in the future. He only had a feedback of 8 to begin with (should have been my first clue) so he'll probably just fade away, or change his eBay user id and start over. I hope eBay will not allow that to happen as my situation may happen to someone else!
