Carson City GSA Packs.. populations?

4 posts in this topic

i'm looking for a population report for the CC's.. the boxes, not the blue packs. can't really find anything yet, does anyone have this info?

a grade population would be helpful, but the number made is the main thing.

was there only one '89? and 92 & 93 are also unique? were they cracked out and slabbed?

well i finally found this info..

1878-CC ..........60,993

1879-CC ...........4,123

1880-CC .........131,529

1881-CC .........147,485

1882-CC .........605,029

1883-CC .........755,518

1884-CC .........962,638

1885-CC .........148,285

1889-CC ...............1

1890-CC ...........3,949

1891-CC ...........5,687

1892-CC ...............1

1893-CC ...............1

but... i found this about the '78 - '60,993 were part of the GSA sale, but 13,426 were culled out of this batch and enclosed in the soft blue GSA packs.' so there'd only be 47,567 black boxes out there. so i guess i'd need to find a blue pack population and do the math for the numbers i'm after..

anyway, i'm really curious about the 89, 92, & 93.. does anyone know the history of them, like where they are now, and if they're still in those boxes or not..? sales history, etc..?

thanks

In reference to the 89, 92, and 93 I believ only one of them is tracable to a current owner. I don't believe GSAGuy owns it, but he does know the person that owns it. Sorry but I don't remember which of he three it is.

i've managed to dig this up.. 'it is widely known that at least 1-1889-CC dollar was released, and a circulated 1893-CC surfaced at the Silver Dollar show in St. Louis several years ago. Proving once again that Government inventory systems may not be 100% accurate.'

several years ago = 10/02, according to another site.

it's just a curiosity.. not looking to buy, obviously, i'm just fascinated with these.. i wonder if they're still in those boxes or not. just whatever happened with them.. there are no signs of them anywhere i've looked.
