  1. Post mint damage? We looking at the same coin? I don't know the difference in bankers marks, counter marks, etc... but bankers marks are on a plethora of ancient coins. Its fairly common to be honest
  2. Fathered the two bestest kids and oh so close brothers in the empire! Sweet little friendly Geta and his outgoing sometimes irritable older brother Marcus😆
  3. Me too. S9+ and the settings on this phone's camera are pretty freaking impressive. Also that black spot is the beginning of a tone, toning, toni toni toni. Its silver with copper it'll happen. To me natural toning doesn't matter as i can look past it but I think the majority doesn't like it. With age things get spots. We can't stay pudgy wittle fat babies forever😉😆
  4. Just wondering if anyone had info on the different "marks" themselves. Who made them exactly and/or if different marks meant different things, etc... For instance in pic below, what I thought was an earring(Haha), looks like a Q? I think one of the more known "bankers" (called something else during Roman times ) was named Quintus? Anyways, I'm not trying to debate the marks effect on coin valuation/devaluation but trying to find the owners/info of such marks. EDIT: Would the person who made this coin make such a mark? In this case Q. Sicinius? I dunno why they would but the Q's look very similar (as far as individual style goes)
  5. A recent win from the Salton Collection!! Its GIGANTIC! That's how Ptolemy do I guess
  6. So US coins get "DETAILS" if they've been cleaned? Say for instance someone had a MS coin and they wiped it with a soft glasses type bag and accidentally put a few light scratches on it. I actually did this with a PROOF Prussian coin trying to get a couple teeny tiny black specs off. I was a stupid rookie and learned my lesson but now I'm afraid to have it graded. I mean all the luster and 100yo haze is there and the coin shows no circulation but there's some really fine light scratches from that fateful "wiping". I just had a Tiberius tribute penny come back as Ch XF "wiped" when I sware it was at least a Ch AU. I looked under a loop and couldn't find any sign of cleaning or wiping but the silver was really smooth and shiny and I've seen other "tribute pennies" that look exactly the same get a MS grade. Anyways, how do they grade a "cleaned" coin and will a few light scratches from a rookie's quick wiping cause issues? The horror... the horror
  7. BODY BAG!😵 HAHA but honestly this was the one coin that I thought might not be genuine so the reason I sent it in was for verification so to speak. The fact that it wasn't graded didn't come as a shock to me. Funny the seller has already sold several almost exact coins since I first purchased. When I confronted them about selling fake coins the seller said "well if its it's a problem with a certain coin then I'll contact my supplier and let them know"😆 Supplier? I mean that word right there is a huge red flag like what? Are you buying your super rare Roman Imperator coins in bulk with wholesale pricing from over seas? 🤣🤣 Also its amazing that every single coin from the BC era looked EXACTLY the same. Same strike, same toning/patina, same shape, etc... Its a very good looking fake tho but I wish these resellers would list them as "replica" or something. At least I get to look at the fake up close tho and familiarize myself with how a fake looks and feels
  8. I mean the amount of information is overwhelming 🤣😉 The coin has a certification number but no description or photos. Im stumped. I guess NGC customer service is too busy to respond to my overly complicated question I sent 3 days ago? Which is, did this coin not make the grade? Just wondering because I'm new to this and a bit confused by the different reasons for different types of grades or none with slab or not slabable, etc ... Thanks anyone who can sooth my swirling head. A half cleaned crusted Ancient coin to the winner!
  9. Need help opening envelopes? Haha Seriously you have allot of mid level ancients. Early Roman, Greek, etc... maybe more better stuff too but so far what I see is the stuff I like!
  10. Not really anything t00 rare but here's one of my recent submissions. I was hoping for MS or Ch AU but I'm happy with it. It's a decent profile of "Big C" mean mugging and looking real friendly like. I mean he's such a nice guy his niceness generated a rainbow above his head. Such an angel... This one I actually just sold and its on its way to Oz land down unda. I post this one here because once I sent it, I felt a weird lonely feeling as if I lost a best friend. Turns out it should have been in my private not for sale collection but at the time when I had posted it for sale I really needed the cash for a vet visit to test my little Boston Terrier breast lump for cancer. But I've since got the money. Anyways someone bought it at full price and stupid honest me kept my end of the bargain even tho I wanted to just refund the money and go dark. I found this in a "bargain bin" for 46$. Only good thing is I sold it for a little under 900$ and I've reinvested the profits in a couple of nice coins that I'll post once I know for sure I've got them. But alas, my heart aches for Ptolemy suffering sukatash
  11. Hello. Just a quick question as I'm somewhat new to grading/slabbing. I submitted 3 Acient Roman coins recently and I know for sure two came back, or are on their way back anyways, graded in cases with online pics but one does not have pics and I dunno if it was graded or not. Just curious as I actually had some minor suspicions in regards to that one. Anyways its #6557615-002 thank yoouuuuuu! D
  12. Its just loose paper Have we as humans seriously become this petty and and anal? No offense
  13. This is the best I got. I like all the bankers marks. Some I don't know how they made them
  14. Funny my pretty coin came back Ch XF compared to a "ugly" coin coming back as AU... Pretty coin had been brushed or cleaned. Ol' Tiberius never looked so shiny! Ugly coin, which imho isn't ugly at all, had proper patina, toning, 5/5 strike and very minor, if any, typical usage blemish in the proper places. Grades are based on the strike and many things happen in between. What might look pretty could be an acid bath, wire brushed buffed and spit shined Frankencoin while the gracefully aged grime fest turns out to be a MS diamond itr... I think right?
