  1. Sorry, first time asking for a coin to be added, so I don’t know what I’m doing. I just got this coin and want to add it to my “Half Dollar Type Set” 2021 P United States 50C NGC MS 68 6317102-004 Competitive Sets > Type Sets > Half Dollar Type Set The slot “50c KENNEDY, CLAD 1971-“ has MS coins from most years (like “2022-P”) but it doesn’t have the 2021, could that be added? Edit: I found these instructions on how to add a coin to an existing slot - and tried that way to request:
  2. I love the Dansco albums too. I’ve had a full Silver Eagle album for 10+ years that I’ve been updating ever year, A few years ago, just before Dansco production shut down, I added 6 more to my collection - Kennedy, Franklin, and Liberty Walking halves as well as some quarter and small dollar albums. The Liberty Walking is my favorite and filled with AU / MS coins - I’m working on the Franklin half album now Anyone have an update on when / if Dansco will go back into full production? Even in 2018 / 2019 I had a hard time getting the albums I wanted as they were always out of stock. Imagine how long it is going to take to build inventory back up at the online sellers!
  3. Great coin! Love those fractional gold buffalos - too bad the were only struck one year! I have NGC MS70 1/4oz and 1/2oz coins and really enjoy them. Hope to get a 1/10oz too someday but the premium over the gold value has prevented me so far - but maybe I will find a good deal on one next year
  4. The first coins I "collected" were 12 silver quarters someone used to pay for gas in 1982 when I was a service station cashier. I immediately knew there was something different about those coins and bought them out of the cash drawer. Asked dad about them and he told me old coins were made of silver - so I kept them. Added to them when I found silver quarters and started buying rolls when I started "stacking". Still have them somewhere in my rolls of silver quarters. My interest in silver coins was increased when I saw advertisements for the new Silver Eagles in 1986. When I finally had some money in 1992, I bought my first Proof Silver Eagle from the US Mint - I have one of every year and still have that first one I bought. But those coins are just silver. My first collectable coin was a 1942 Walking Liberty half dollar. In the early 2000's I was helping a friend move and they showed me an inherited collection of half dollar coins. I had never seen a Walking Liberty or Franklin half before, but immediately recognized the original design that had been used on the ASE. I told them that these were obviously "pre-65" 90% silver coins and they were worth way more than face value. The first time I held one of those Walking Liberty coins I was hooked - they let me pick one out to keep and I found a really nice 1942 (didn't know that was a very common year) - but it was bright and almost uncirculated. I still have that coin. That coin started my Walking Liberty Danco album, and in 2019 when I was searching for a 1947D the cheapest one I could find was an IGC graded / slabbed MS64. When it arrived, I didn't think is was actually an MS64, but I still didn't have the heart to break it out of the slab. Loved holding that slabbed coin in my hand and I still have it today. I quickly learned that I liked NGC the best and that is when I started collecting NGC graded coins.
  5. Thank you for that information - I thought that was true but have never seen it actually stated that way. I'm saving your comments - it will help me go through my pile of SBAs when I get time!
  6. I just got my (3) Peace dollars from the US Mint - very happy with all of them. The Mint even packed them better that shipments from previous years - adding foam blocks to keep the OGP boxes from bouncing around inside the shipping box. The new OGP is less impressive - the cheap felt / plastic insert like they've used in the Uncirculated American Silver Eagles - all three of the capsules had popped out and were rattling around in the OGP boxes. New Year resolution - learn how to take better / more consistent photos of coins!
  7. That was exactly my next question! I was worried that they were re-selling "scratched" and "scuffed" returned coins - I'm glad you cleared that up. I had already purchased more than the "new" limit of three (3) CC privy coins (the original limit was 10 I think), so I didn't get any more of those. I did get my three (3) Peace dollars (my favorite silver dollar) and three (3) of the "P" Morgan Dollars - the only ones that I got skunked out of by the US Mint crappy website. The US Mint told me today that the order is already shipped - I can't believe it. The only other experience I had with buying one of the last few of a coin release as a secondary release from the US Mint was when I bought my 2016 commemorative 1016 Mercury Dime. Many people then said that they were scratched returns but mine was very nice - I thought I just got lucky.
  8. I inherited a single Morgan Silver Dollar from my father and it was the start of my coin collection - an unremarkable NGC / GSA hoard coin . I don't really collect Morgan dollars but it got me started and that is all that matters!
  9. I love US half dollar coins and the Walking Liberty coins are easily my favorite. I have a lowly 1933 to 1947 ungraded set which are mostly MS with a few AU and it is my favorite collection. I really loved looking at your set. Your 1936D and 1937D coins are amazing - I don't know if it is just extra good photography of those two coins, but those are the nicest strikes I've ever seen on a Walking Liberty and those are hard to find dates - very nice! Congratulations on finishing your set - beautiful!
  10. I will truly believe it when they are in my hand, but I was just able to order the 2021 Peace and 2021P Morgan Dollars that I didn't get when first released - and I got an order confirmation email - go check it out on the US Mint Website
  11. I'm newish to collecting and new to NGC this year, so my collection is obviously below average - but I'm working on it! I don't aspire to have any top rated collections but I do enjoy looking at them to just see what people have put together and hope to get some 100% completed sets over the years and maybe a few in the top 50. Honestly, I enjoy looking at sets with the lower scores that are close to 100% completed that have 100% photos - more "real world" than the top-rated mega-buck collections. I too just collect what I like and use the registry to track my progress and challenge myself - really enjoying it so far!
  12. Like others - I use NGC to get a "max" price and eBay sold listings to get an idea what they are actually selling for. eBay charges sales tax in my state even on bullion coins (which is not required in my state) so that skews the actual purchase price by about 10% - but that is a different rant.
