And while there are some who will like the color that dark terminal toning very well may have begun to etch the surface of the coin. My suspicion is that there was another smaller coin on top of this coin which protected the center from whatever has caused the environmental damage to the edge. Also agreed with coinbuf except do not believe the edge suffers from environmental damage yet. Just a tad dark which can hide possible but not likely issues. This coin looks to be a lower grade Unc or high end AU as it appears to have some rub on the high points or is weakly struck. The reverse looks nicer.
