    Here is a photo of the Obverse. It has multiple die cracks and pitting from the rust. The reverse has a die crack that runs from between the US, through the mint mark, (like a dollar sign) all the way down to between the ES in states. Monticello is covered in pitted remains of rust I believe. Would this grade as an error?

    I have a high-grade Jefferson War Nickel that was struck with 2 exceptionally rusty and cracked dies. Would NGC consider a coin like this an error? I think it needs preserving. Anyone know?

    There was a second one removed. It was the 1942-P/P/P vp001. It was 2448 points and was a Top Pop.. Thanks for your help Ali.

    Filled slots are being removed from the Jefferson War Nickel with varieties registry. Does anyone know why? One of the coins removed I purchased some time ago and was a Top Pop.

    Hi, What I was referring to is the #8 slot in the Jefferson war nickel variety set. If that coin is acquired, only 2 are in the census and there are no registry points. Is that intentional? Thanks, and great topic.

    I would like to see a replacement for the #8 slot in the Jefferson war nickel w/ variety set. It currently lists a 1943 P/P VP-010 yet states that there is no coin for that slot. Only 1 is in the census. How about the 1943 S/S VP-004 of which there are 3 in the census, or the 1944 D/D VP-002 of which there are 13 in the census. Replacing the 1943 P/P would give us a chance at completing the set. I'm not there yet but it would be something to strive for. Just a thought.

    I have owned an NGC graded 1945 d DDO Jefferson nickel for a couple of years now. I do not see it in the census data. On the label it says FS-101 MS66 6FS. The census has a count of 1 MS67. Should we be notifying NGC when we see something like this?

    I won a coin at auction on Sunday. I now have the coin in hand and the previous owner still has ownership for registry purposes. How long does it usually take to notify the past owner and confirm the sale? Tim

    I wonder if anyone has ever seen an updated price guide entry that was the result of them reporting a transaction.

    Thanks everyone. Back to my original question though. Does anyone know if reporting variety auction prices via "report a transaction" has any cumulative effect? Does it do any good?

    Thank you for that thoughtful response. What I have noticed and don't understand is why some recognized varieties have estimates of current fair market value, where other equally recognized varieties have the value of the same coin with no variety. Those are the coins that have no relation to the price guides vs what they bring at auction. If the variety is too minor for a price guide then why would it be important enough for a registry set?

    Why do the values of Jefferson Nickel varieties never update, even after multiple auction prices realized have been entered using the "report a transaction" tab? Anyone?

    I am contemplating the purchase of a Full Step Jefferson War Nickel in MS68. I am finding that determining the registry points is confusing. Is CAC going to be approving these nickels soon? Thanks
