  1. Leeg, that 1876 is gorgeous. I think the draped, capped and seated liberty halves have a design that allows collectors to develop a realy fine collection at all different grade levels, and it is harder, I think, to do this as you go below the MS64 point (gorgeous MS64's are almost a dime a dozen so to speak, but really nice XF40's with great eye appeal are more difficult, and this demonstrates that chasing the grade is a fools road to eye appeal. you did well. Congratulations. thumbsup2.gif

  2. Wow! a lot of neat coins. That's a very nice bust dime and slq, Winston.

Congrats on your piece( saint), Chad.

re the seated dollar (rbrown4)...wow...It's so hard to find them with such detail and then unfortunately it's been cleaned improperly. Maybe storing it in a kraft envelope for a few years would help it (out of it's holder).

edited to distinguish who i was referring to

  3. It is very interesting how lighting can change the coin's appearance.

In your opinion, which image better describes this stunning type coin ?

You also mentioned a Proof 64 - which you liked better - do you

have that image as well, for comparison purposes ?

  4. that is actually a definite sleeper coin, the 1820 curled base two, and the one you have looks unmessed with and has very nice

    eye appeal.

This is definitely a scarce coin, and if it is not in a holder now,

I suggest you send it to NGC or PCGS for grading. And don't sell it.

edited to add: so yes, it does compare well to any coin above!

also, the total mintage for all 1820s is just slightly greater than that for the 1807s, and of course,

the curled base two variety even a smaller percentage of that.

If you do a search on 1820 curled base two bust halves you will find a significant proportion having been cleaned or

altered in some way. It's very difficult to find one such as yours.
