Breaking the 100,000 Registry Point Barrier

Even though I have been collecting coins for well over half a century I did not own my first certified coin until 2007. That was the year that I joined the Collector's Society, created my first signature set, and started competing in the Registry. If someone told me back then that my "Total Coin Registry Points" would someday reach 100,000 Points I would have told them that they were out of their mind.

Until recently I never paid much attention to the "Total Coin Registry Points" on my Collector's Society face page. Although I never had a goal of reaching 100,000 Registry Points my point total climbed steadily as I added quality USA-Philippine coins to my collection.

2012 has been a particularly good year for me in that I have been able to add a number of very rare "Condition Census" and "Top Pop" USA-Philippine Proof coins to my Registry Sets. The new acquisitions resulted in a dramatic increase in my "Total Coin Registry Points".

This past weekend I created an additional Registry Set (JAA USA-Philippines Complete Set #4) to house duplicates that were not in any Competitive Registry Set. The coins in that set took me over the 100,000 point mark. As of today I have 101,132 "Total Coin Registry Points".

The coin pictured is one of the duplicates that took me over the 100,000 Registry Point Total. This 1903 Half Centavo from the Dr. Greg Pineda Collection is graded PCGS PR64 BN.
