Gold is over $1,370? Go figure!

I read WKF's posts, and agree that gold is going to continue to soar, at least for a while. For thousands of years, gold has always been the investment of choice that people run to in times of turmoil. And boy, is there a lot of turmoil in the world today.

Between the continuing economic problems, which have affected the entire world, to the threat of violence and terrorism that seems to be spreading around the world as well, these are perilous times. Many people don't trust the banks anymore, and anyone with a retirement account knows we can't trust Wall Street anymore, either. (And do you know how you can tell when a politician--both and --is lying? Their lips move!)

Anyway, more to the point, the biggest problem we face as numismatists is that many of the coins we collect are going to rapidly soar out of reach of many of our budgets. That's the bad news. The good news is the things we already have will be worth more, and potentially will enable us to pay for our kids' college educations, retirement, etc., where other investments we were counting on will fall short. I'd rather buy truly rare coins than stocks or bonds. Coins, at least, I understand!

I wish I could say I really understood what is going on in the world, but the more I read, the more convinced I get that the whole world is nuts, and I'm just along for the ride.....

Happy collecting, everyone!
