I've had several past posts saying "Buy Gold Now". Do I still believe that?

Greetings Collectors,

The "broken record" continues. Yes I still believe in buying gold now. As I've said this ride is just beginning. I truly think that there will be a steady climb in the yellow metal with occasional 2-7% pull backs. One will be up-coming on Nov. 3rd just after the election. (just 3-weeks away from tomorrow) I also think that gold will reach $5000 in just 4-8 years and only then will we see some major selling. Just about every week I see an article in one of the "weekly" coin publications about the "wisdom" in buying at today's prices. However this metal is not the only one to really be worthy of "socking away".

Silver I think will do a good deal better than gold or platinum or palladium. Think about this. In the 1800's and up 'til the 2nd third of the 20th century, the ratio of gold to silver has always been 20 to 1. ($20 gold double eagle to 20 silver dollars). Three months ago, and back a dozen years before that, the average ratio of gold to silver has been 62 to 1. A few minutes ago when I checked, gold was up another $7.50 & silver up another 25 cents. The prices were $1354.90 & $23.41 respectfully. This ratio has been narrowing in the last three months and now stands at 57.8 to 1. This is a trend that I am not alone in my thinking, it will continue. I've been saying for some time that silver would do better, percentage wise than the other precious metals. Remember when platinum was nearly twice the price of gold? Now the two are less than $350 apart. (platinum is now $1695.80 up another $13.50) Silver will continue to out perform and this is a good thing for those of us that cant go out and buy a half dozen 1-ounce bars of the "yellow metal" or the other two "white metals".

Rolls of 40% silver Kennedy halves are less than $70 per roll. Each 40% half has exactly .1479 ounces of silver. A roll contains just shy of 3 ounces of pure silver. 2.958 ounces to be exact. This is an investment that most of us can still afford. I am fairly certain that I have bought my last $20 gold piece. I may try and get a $10 here and there but even that's "iffy". All of our coins of gold and silver and the like are going up daily. Even the "coppers" are tagging along on this "numismatic gold ride". All of this just makes this hobby all the more rewarding, literally.

I have been on a tear of late. I have just about quit buying coins and have been using all of my eBay sales proceeds to buy 40 & 90% silver. I have all my silver eagles in rolls, have nine of the 35 dates & mints of the Franklin series in "mint roll form" and today I made a trade with a fellow eBayer to acquire the last mint roll I need to have one roll of each "MS date" in the 40% Kennedy halve series. Since I have two of the 1968-D's, I have put my order in to acquire an additional roll of each date in that tiny 40% series. This may be a "do-able" goal for some of you. In order to have one roll of each of these silver coins, you only need six rolls for the set. (that's leaving out the 1970-D & not counting the only 90% year which is 1964 & 1964-D) The 1970-D is fairly expensive as to get 20 of this date, 20 mint sets would have to be "broken up", and may be a little more expensive than I really want to "spring for". To do this entire group, you would need the following: The 1st two rolls of 90%, the '64-P & D, a roll of the 1965-P, 1966-P, 1967-P (this one costs a wee bit more than the other five, but not near as much as the '64's and the '70-D) The 1968-P, 1968-D and the last one, the 1969-P. This would make a "classy" little run, for not an "out of this world" cost. Roughly six X $70 to have them all, and then approx. $200 each for the 1964 P & D. I know that I'm probably gonna try and get a roll of the '70-D's as well once I have the others in duplicate. Then again, I may faint when I see what buying 20 different coins over a period of time, just to fill that slot. But to have them all, that's what it's gonna take. To use an "old saying" "If you're gonna be a bear, be a grizzly bear, not a panda bear".

So anyway I leave you with what I've been spending my money on the last couple months. I bought these in groups of as little as 12 coins, right up to my largest score, which was a 6-roll lot. (all these being the 40% coins) And also picked up a roll of 90% Franklin and Kennedy halves here & there.

Happy Collecting & Investing!

P.S. The most important election since 1776 is exactly 3-weeks away. Please register to vote if you have not done so, and then, "don't forget to exercise your right TO VOTE". America is the "GREATEST" country on the planet, and if any other planets have countries, well then, America is better than all them too!
