There's nothing like having an entire afternoon & evening "wrapped up" in coins!

Greetings Collectors,

I took the day off to have surgery on my left arm today having a nasty place on my left forearm removed and then decided to go by the bank and get my silver eagle rolls just to make sure what I had written on paper, via inventory, was indeed reality. And I'm happy to say it is. All that I am technically waiting on is #4 1996 silver eagles to arrive and it will be official.

When I was building my MS SE set a few years ago, I didn't want to pay the $80-$100 to buy the key date 1996 slabbed when I had a whole roll of them. I picked out the nicest 4 coins from the roll and sent them off to NGC looking for that "elusive 70". All 4 came back MS-69. So I was very sad that not only did I not have a "70" to insert in that '96 slot, I had a mint roll that was now lacking 4 from being complete. Several days ago when I purchased the last full roll I needed to complete the set, I bought 4 (1996's) from a vendor that was selling singles, doubles and three's, all the way up to full rolls of that key date. I messaged a fellow member here and said how ironic it was that I paid almost double for 4 examples of that 1996 date as I had paid for the entire roll back in '96. Yes I paid $50 each for those 4 coins but was actually very happy to get them for what I thought to be a fair price. So they have not arrived yet but they're paid for and on the way. I also have not seen the empty "green lid mint tube" the 96's came in, so I talked the vendor out of one of his empties. I'm sure I saved mine but when the roll was a 16 count, I removed them and put each in a plastic flip rather than having them rattle around in a "less than full" tube.

Now I am unsure whether to buy 20 Dansco albums and make up the sets now. I know I will continue to buy a new roll every January and the series appears to have no end so now I wonder since this 2010 year is the 25th coin of the series, maybe they will have a second album. I am going to guess that after another 25 years, they "will have" a "silver eagles" part one, album as in the 1st 25 years and then a "part two" 2011 through 2035 album. But naw, I'm just gonna leave them in the rolls and one day out in the future, when it comes time to sell, I'll bust into the rolls and fill 20 albums then. I haven't even bought a coin album in quite a while, so I'm unsure of how they are set up, date wise for the SE's. I just find it hard to keep from dwelling on what a sight it would be, to see 20 complete albums full of those shiny silver coins. I'm sure it would be a sight to behold. But I'll wait 'til...

But along with getting my silver eagle rolls from the bank, I picked up all of my "zillion" Franklin MS sets/coins and got all of them organized. I also picked up all of my Walker halves to get my set number one and two of the short set, along with my Walker "middle set ('34 to '47) all straightened out and labeled/set up properly. Having nothing but a coin afternoon & evening seems more fun than the law would allow. I have had a blast.

So I thought I'd stand up with my back to my computer desk and take a shot of my spot on the couch where I have spent what will be a dozen hours very soon. It's 9:28 pm EST and I think I'm going to check back in on the "happenings" at Teletrades Wed night auction. I'm always "reading the menu" but we'll just have to see if there is something I can't do without. They're usually is...

Happy Collecting!

P.S. I just bought 3 Washington quarters in a 3-coin lot, each is a 1958-P NGC MS-66. Very low mintage at 6,360,000. $25 each. Yes this has been a very good day indeed...
