My collection is safe, it's just the "dam" points...

Greetings Collectors,

Well, this may be a blessing, after all. TPETERS and I have been kinda running neck and neck for some time. He would pull ahead and then after some major purchases I would reciprocate. I had been hovering at the 200,000 point mark for some time. I have sold a few coins and then I would add a few. Then came my "self imposed" moratorium on any future coin purchases unless monies were freed up by sales. In other words, money had to come in the door "FROM COINS" in order to buy more coins. Wouldn't be nice if our leaders operated like that? Anyway, since I was so close to the 200k mark, I was actually contemplating making a gold coin purchase that would get me the 945 points to punch through that, as Todd says, 1/5th of a million point ceiling.

But as I looked this morning, I had dropped to less than 197,000 total points. The reason being... The Collectors Society! Yes they have taken my beloved Walkers and re-evaluated their total points and "robbed" me of 2,243 points. Why????? The points garnered for certain issues compared to modern coins is ridiculous. If anything they should have adjusted them (the Walkers) upward not downward. I have a real beef with the "powers that be" for the unbalanced way they appoint points. Not just for the halves just mentioned but several other issues as well. Those of you that collect Franklin halves know how rare most of those coins are in MS-65 and higher yet they give a Presidential dollar and some of the other modern issues that have a "zillion" graded yet they give way more points than they are worth. I think the most "outta whack" coin series is the Franklin proofs. If you want to see something insane, take a look at my Franklin proofs and see the points given for each. And these coins that grade this high are very scarce to downright rare. I have a 1956 Type Two Franklin that resides in an old green holder and is graded Proof 68 Cameo. An unbelievably gorgeous coin and the points for this very scarce coin,... 45, as in forty five total points. My whole set that lacks 4 coins from being complete, from the date run of 1950-1963, totals a whopping 900 points. Every time I look at them, I get angry.

But, getting down to a serious note, maybe all this is for the best. I would have probably sprung for another coin to punch through the 200,000 points, but now I am almost 4 thousand points away and that's where it looks I will stay. And with that comment I will wave goodbye to you Todd as you leave me in the dust.

I leave you with a pretty nice coin. One that's not real high grade, but a fairly scarce Lincoln and one in my opinion, is worth way more that 3 points. Also when is "Auto-Build" coming back. They keep saying it's coming soon, but when??? I miss it badly.

Happy Collecting! 47 days left 'til the Nov. 2nd elections!!! I can hardly wait!!!
