IT'S SAD TO LOSE A "COIN FRIEND"...

SOME PEOPLE YOU JUST CAN'T REACH...

Greetings Collectors,

Life has been very challenging to me the last few weeks/months..years? My dads health is touch and go. My daughter just finished law school and from last Thursday 'til last night has been spent driving hundreds of miles to obtain a truck, and moving her back home. She will leave in 3-weeks to get yet one more feather in her "doctorial" cap as she will attend a year at NYU which will assure her starting salary of low 6-figures to probably double. Of course it's another big hit to my "pocketbook", plus I hate the thought of my "little girl" living in NYC but that "anything for the kids" thing just takes over whenever it wants to. Then my 14 year old got into big trouble and all I will say about this is, it had to do with questionable friends, baseball bats & hitting rocks with the same very near the expressway. Too bad my daughter didn't take her bar exam on July 26 & 27 of "last year" instead of last week. Anyway all of this including my own health issues has taken a toll on dad in all ways. But I will say that an issue that just came up with a "what I thought to be a good friend" here at the CS has me just as upset as any of the above mentioned issues.

Now I realize this is a coin forum and not a political one but that which we all collect is strongly affected by the economic climate we are in at present. I have made just recently and maybe twice in the last 3 years, minor references that would divulge my conservative views when it comes to fiscal issues. "This Does" affect all of us here in that which we collect/invest. I have never, nor will I now or ever go off on some far to "right of center" rant of what I think is completely idiotic as far as the path we are on now, or who I vote for or what I think of the current administration and of his handling of the economy, which again affects all of us here greatly. I will only say that I believe/think like the vast majority of Americans as elections of the last 6-8 months show.

I will not reveal who this CS member is, to anyone but just because of the little comment I made in my last post, at the very beginning of that post, along with the very short "back and forth" dialogue/discussion I fear I have lost this person as a friend. What makes it all the more sad, is that I gave example after example and stated fact after fact to support my side of the issues at hand. In return the mood changed with this person, to not one of a political discussion, but one of animosity and disgust. I guess it's just the "lawyer" in me that took control. If I could have "waved a magic wand" I would have liked to have engaged in a political dialogue with this person and share the facts. Instead as it usually is with persons from that side of the aisle, blame was tried to be put back on me/my party and then quickly not wanting to discuss it further because as most know the facts speak for themselves and there really was "no argument. I will say that I don't have "tunnel vision", in that I "do not" blindly follow any particular party and on several occasions have voted outside my party, once for a president, who was seeking his second term. I "ALWAYS" look at the person and not the "party".

I will say in closing on this subject that right now a bill has been introduced in the House that will require all of us that sell on ebay, that if passed by both houses, and signed by the President, all of us sellers will be required to collect sales tax in "ALL" of the over 15,000 different municipalities, with "ALL" of the different rates, and in all 50 states. Think of what a nightmare this will be. This is the "mindset" of those that are in charge. The answer to all things is the Federal Government and "their" answer is more taxes.

I know this post will not only "not sit well" with the person I'm talking about but they're may be many others that will be pissed as well. To that I say "oh well, what else is new?" Never again will you hear me utter again what I've uttered. My views are now clarified/known. I just wanted to say that it's sad when a person of one political party acts and has the attitude like what I just witnessed. I will argue my side with anyone, anywhere, and at anytime and after the facts are presented, let any intelligent jury decide. The jury has reached one decision a year and a half ago, a lied to jury, but a jury none the less. They will reach another this Nov, albeit with alot more facts/results, and almost as big a decision awaits a jury at the same time in 2012. I will abide by the jury's decision every time & give those elected the honor in which they deserve. Discussion and dialogue is what has made this country great and I'll be damn if I'm gonna quit using my free speech rights to get the truth out. I just hate by doing so, that I may have lost a "coin friend" in the process. But before any of you start posting about: "this "ain't" the place for all that", "don't", 'cause I agree and you won't hear anything like this from me again. It's just sad when you lose a friend over it. I guess that "old saying" still holds true. Two things you shouldn't/can't discuss are politics and religion. This is sad.

On a pure coin note, this additional piece to my 1853 mint set was in the mailbox when I got home from Gainsville. I am fast approaching the point where the coins left in gold will be the "killer expensive" ones. I have "mixed emotions" as gold gets closer to $1200 again and silver breaking through $18 for the "up-teenth" time. That is truly a "double edged sword". But again, Oh well, keep the obstacles/problems/controversy coming.

Happy Collecting!
