Thank you for the explanation.

While this is on the public forum, I direct this response to Island Antiques. I do not in any way pretend to speak for our collecting community. I am just sharing my opinion and those who MAY think like me.

I, like many of us fellow collectors have had a bad experience with one or even more of the third party graders. Personally, I will never send any more of my coins to PCGS, for my own reasons. That is not to say I dont like PCGS coins, as I have several in my collection. I will buy them already slabbed. I will let somebody else deal with the apcray (pig-latin) PCGS dishes out to thier paying customers. Anacs has done a fine job of slabbing my coins but until I can put Anacs slabbs into my registry, I probably wont send any more that way. Which brings me to NGC. Overall, I have been happy with the grades and slabs I have received from NGC. My biggest gripe is like most others. the very long wait for them to be returned. One of the Roosevelt dimes in my last batch was collecting social security when it finally returned home.

As for Island Antiques, mistakes happen and that will almost always result in some hard feelings. I hope you and NGC have been able to get things squared away. Our collecting family always feels the pain when one of our members is hurting, wether it be a lost or stolen coin, accidental damage or whatever the reason. We value you and your insights, like the rest of our collecting family.

Several members of your collecting family expressed concern that you were being silenced by NGC. I for one am glad to see that was not the case. I appreciated what you said, that you had decided to withdrawl your comment. That you had "vented". I cannot think of any one of us out here who has not "vented" at least a half dozen times. We all have had our reasons to vent. The creators of this forum must have knew this would happen and it must be ok to vent (within reason of course) otherwise this would be a moderated/censored forum.

Dont feel bad about venting, for even in one's venting a lesson may be learned by the rest of your family of collectors. I continue to hope that you will not leave this forum as one never relishes the loss of a family member. I also hope that you will feel like part of the family and share your collection with us, through your insights, stories, descriptions and images. If there is anything I, as a collecting family member can do, please do not hesitate to ask. I am ....

Respectfully,

Michael W. Cooper
