I don't know the way to shoot my coins to proudly display them.

I am displaying two fo my brother's Double Eagles because he would like to sell them. We tried to photograph them for excellant display, but they came out lousy. I tried to shoot them with the highest resolution possible on my digital camera, then compress (or decompress?) them to 120K to upload, but that didn't work. The pics came out unusable. I tried to shoot for e-mail, and that didn't work. They came out fuzzy. So... How do I do it? I need to know so I can display my other own coins in the best possible light for display. I tried to scan them, but that didn't work either for some of the best looking pics.
