I finally did it!

I actually won my first gold auction tonight. Hugh for me. My quest started a week ago by placing a single high bid for a 1992 1/10th $5 gold eagle.

Within the first twelve hours of my initial bid, one person bid 3 times to raise the bid to almost half of what my max was. I thought to myself, "There is no way I am going to win this coin." Then the wait began. I waited and watched until day 5 of the auction rolled along. Another person bid twice to up my bid to about two-thirds of my max. I began to sweat.

I continued to watch and wait until half way through day 6. Another bid. This raised my bid to within $0.76 of my max. I was determined on my price and was not going to bid any higher, no matter what.

I just knew it was a matter of time before I was outbid, probably in the last 30 seconds of the auction. For some reason, God was looking out for me on this one. Amazingly, with $0.76 left of my bid, the final seconds ticked away and I held on for my first gold purchase.

As if winning this way isn't enough, it happens to come on such a monumental purchase (for me anyway). I am STOKED!!
