I see both of your points, but...

If it's a guideline, then list some guide line prices. It should be regardless of how many NGC has graded vs what the coin is worth. I guess it should boil down to, get a monthly coin publication or check PCGS for free.

Speaking of 1971's (my favorite coin collectible), there was a PCGS 1971-S PF 69 Deep Cameo on Ebay (another reason to check the pricelog) and got the wife permission to bid. Our beloved NGC lists it for $1250.00, PCGS NOW lists it for $2100 (a few days ago, I could of sworn it was $1450) and I only was able to bid up to $1200. It sold for $1600.99. Wow. One of the ones I really like and need for my registry, is slowly getting more and more out of my price range! I gotta start putting aside a hundred out of every paycheck or something!
