I have to tell you, I agree with everything Mike said, but let me take this a bit further still. I just can't help myself......

For me and most other collectors, it is about the coins. Why else would I go out of my way to collect tokens and medals that seem to fit into the theme of my collection. Or why would anyone be interested in an old Navy Token.

Because they are not slabbed, I cannot show or register many of my coins and so called dollars as a part of my signature set "War and Conflict." This bothers me to some extent, probably because I want to show them to others and also because I want to continue to expand my set. On the other hand, I truly do take pleasure in owning these coins. But, the slabbing and grading issue still gives me a level of satisfaction that I cannot seem to get with raw coins. I guess I need the validation. As subjective as it may be...owning a collection of NGC MS70 coins is exciting to me. Oh sure, there are several coins that will take me years to aquire, raw or slabbed. They are just too expensive to buy all at once. But I guess that is part of what keeps me involved, why I keep searching dozens of sites looking for a super deal on one of those untouchables.

I don't have the confidence or experience Mike has. I've been burned a couple of times and to be honest, I'll probably get burned again. I have to say, getting burned has made me wiser. I've learned a thing or two. I just hope all my lessons are not so expensive.

Being able to display my entire set in clearly defined and graded uniform slabs is neat. It's like they all belong together, they are dressed for show. I just can't help myself. Steve
