Mistakes With Tokens And Labels

Hi everyone. Well I just received five tokens back from NGC.Let me tell you I'm happy there slabed. However if you thought the Franklin Press was bad you should see what they did to my Newgate token. Don't get me wrong they do an excellent job. But when they make a massive one like this it causes me problems. I'm disabled. I can't go to shows there is no club by me so I do English auctions. That's the best quality. 

    Now I just can't get up and go to the post office. Someone has to go for me. To the token. The token I sent was made by P.Kempson. It's a D&H 396a. . Now they put D&H 391. Big difference. 391 has Roman numerals on it. My token has the date 1795 in numbers so big it's huge. It also has a design under it. The buildings bricks are different the facade is differant.  Now how they made this one I will never know but it's such an inconvenience for me. There on two seperate pages in the book. The auction house described it as Kempson And the date. One token is on page 140. That's what they put on the label. Mine is on page 141 under Middlesex Newgate token   I have been pushing for more people to preserve these and this is the reason they won't send them in. I can't put this up like this. Any Conder collector will laugh saying I told you not to send them in. They can't tell the difference between Roman numerals and a regular date. I use the same book everyone does the Dalton and Hamer book that's were the numbers come from and the pictures. The have 1790's wrong it's 1795 now I have to send this back. I  have to. It's going back with the Franklin Press and I will write the page and number for them. I'm upset. It's not easy for me . I only hope more people send them in to preserve history. They deserve the same respect as a gold coin. Some cost more than gold. That's right. Now everyone makes mistakes but these two I can't deal with. More aggravation for me. What bothers me is it has to be done.Paper work phone calls packaging and a letter exposing there error. I have tried so hard to get people to accept NGC and they do this. In will not speak of the others. Yes there were more. I just hope they change these and get them back in a timely fasion. There very good there don't blame the company for one person's mistake. Continue to send them in. They deserve the protection for future genarations. The little time I have left I hope is a mistake. Thanks and don't give up I dont. Mike

We can never give up Mike. That's a great attitude. I also am disabled and understand what you are taking about. Aggravation! All you need are some empty slabs and the machine that seals them. Then you can do all the work for them instead of just all the research. Well, good luck on getting help and the returns. They should pay for everything..Thanks.

I will never give up and I'm known for telling like it is. NGC is great. No doubt number one and have always treated me well but I have no idea what this person was looking at. Nothing is the same. But i will always give them my best plug. This was one person. He or she has no idea what they were looking at. Now the hardship I have to go through. I'm resting from the treatment Monday this set me back. But I will not give up never on NGC. Mike

Probably a result of their inexperience handling Condor Tokens which resulted in improper attribution.  Everytime you send in a token, you help increase their knowledge of the area. I know how tough you are Mike, you are helping the whole Condor Token collecting community everytime you send one of yours in.

This was the mistake of one person who was the first one and said that's it. Wasn't even close. Not even the same token. Made differently how can you know know Roman numerals for the date a date so big it has a design. This hampers me from singing token collection for sending them in. Now you know my problems it will take time to send this one and the Franklin Press back. I can't get to the post office. I have to give my friend something for going paper work I mean it's not easy. They can but it might take a week until my friend gets to the post office. It took a month to get back and it will take another to get them back.thanks for you mind words. I put up two new tokens one I wrote a blog on today a very important token and the one yesterday that demands high prices take a peek. Mike

When I first started slabing them. I now thank the Lord I stopped sending them to PCGS. What a hack job they did. Wrong D&H numbers they encircled the edge writing which determine rarity. They graded tokens that were a mess MS 64. I just spoke to a very popular auction house who has an auction in two dats you believe  this but lot so and so we're probably slabed by PCGS  Yes I was right. Yes I was. But that's the way they came by the seller. I suggested that if there records are all on a computer separate them. I bet you got higher bids on NGC. He said why. Simple. They know. More about them  and they don't hand out MS. Thanks I think it's important were you send certain coins. Mike.

You are a hundred percent right. The book we use can be confusing. It took me a while to lean it. But they should know if better than me. That goes for them all. If they don't know how to use it right by now they never will. I learned by the teaching of a auctioneer and dealer. It took time but know I know exactly were to go. If they don't have it by now that scares me. Because there going to continue to make the same mistakes over and over. Thanks my friend.

My experience with NGC grading Philippine medals and tokens has been great. The NGC researcher for these items is detail oriented and she has caught a couple of mistakes on my part even though I am the author of the book: "Philippine Medals and Tokens 1780-2015." The unfortunate thing is that as long as humans are involved in the process, mistakes will happen! Good luck and don't give up.  NGC will correct the label.
