I have read about it, been warned to use extreme caution when....
buying from overseas. Now I know what I was being told, especially when buying U.S. coins from China. I purchased 3 Morgan Silver Dollars from my "chinese friend" on eBay. I figured other bidders weren't as trusting as me so the bidding was slow. It never occured to me the other bidders were just smarting than me. I'm pretty smart you see! Well I learned how smart I was. It took about 2 weeks for the coins to arrive. I couldn't believe my luck. The cost of the 3 coins shipping included was less than $150.00. I was now the proud owner of a Morgan 1891 CC AU-50, a Morgan 1885 S MS-60 and a Morgan 1894 CC AU-50. I guessed the combined value to be over $600.00. Any way I sent them in to NGC to be graded and slabbed. A month or so later I got them back all marked "NOT GENUINE," all 3 coins are counterfiet. I couldn't believe it. The Chinese must have a regular production line manufacturing U.S. coins. In some ways I don't feel too bad..I learned a lot and now I have 3 Genuine, not Genuine Real Counterfiet rare coins in my collection.
