3 BEAUTIFUL INDIAN HEAD PENNIES

These coins take me back to my collecting "roots"... Left to Right & Bottom: 1901, 1906 & 1907 Greetings Collectors, Taking a trip down "memory lane". These coins are some of the first coins I collected back in the "mid-60's". These, some Buffalo nickels, and some Mercury dimes, along with a few silver dollars, assorted Walkers, of of course, the "center-piece" of my collection, my 1810/09 Classic Head large cent. Wow, what memories. I think I use to get as excited, if not more so wh

SHOULD WE BE HAPPY .. or.. NOT???

Truly a "Double Edged" Sword that can "defend" from, or contribute to, our own "demise"... Greetings Collectors, I have been doing a lot of reading lately which leads to a great deal of thinking. My thoughts, while for the most part are positive, but at the same time, nostalgic and actually quite sad. We as collectors get interested in a certain coin series and most of us begin the quest and the chore of acquiring the pieces for those respective sets. The vast majority of sets require the sp

ANOTHER GORGEOUS SITE...

Actually in "two" senses of the word! "Two" gorgeous sites. Greetings Collectors, It's getting close to three in the afternoon here on the east coast and my "excitement" level is starting to build. It's almost "MAIL-TIME". Every time I use the word mail time, it brings back memories of my two teenage sons who use to religiously watch "Blues Clues". All of you with "little people" know of this "kids show". Anyway I'm waiting on,.. what else, more silver coins. (40% Kennedy's duhh) I ordered a

TWO "NEW" COINS ARRIVED TODAY

Gold is almost $1400, but for all you "math dudes" this dropping ratio is almost getting "scary". Greetings Collectors, My friend out in Ca. at Teletrade auctions really came through for me today. I won the Franklin half pictured below on Wed night. As I was leaving my house for work at 10:30 this morning (I had forgotten something and had to go back to the house. I don't usually start my day at 10+ am) I almost backed into my mailman. I thought something "freaky" at first, like I was being

WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!!

"ALL" of our "gold & silver coins are going to "Skyrocket", but will these be worth hanging "onto"??? At one time each was "redeemable" for a silver dollar... Greeting Collectors, I took the day off and have just finished re-shooting photos of all of my Franklins in my set #1. Last night on Teletrade, I ran across a great deal on yet another Franklin half. Most of the time this auction house "IS NOT" the best deal. I have dealt with them for over 5 years now and have landed many good-gre

TWO VERY GOOD MOVES

I bet ya know what ones gonna be... Greetings Collectors, I have been doing some "touch ups" on my Franklin Half Set #1 with descriptions and re-shooting a few photos. As most of you know, I'm a Franklin half fan (which is short for "fanatic" & that's exactly what I would call myself) and have numerous sets and well over 100 graded ones ranging from MS-63 FBL, right on up to several in 66 with the "full bell line designation. The reason for so many sets is that I find it hard to pass on

PREDICTION ON GOLD & SILVER

All "Bets" are off... Greetings Collectors & Investors, I had thought, and predicted that the price of the metals would fall after the upcoming tsunami on Tuesday Nov. 2nd. After seeing what China has done with their interest rates and now most are predicting that the Fed will crank up the printing presses when they meet next week, this spells only one thing. INFLATION, INFLATION & MORE INFLATION. This will send the metals into the stratosphere. Maybe not presently, because of an alm

WHAT A WEEK FOR "SILVER"...

For those of you who care, this move is huge....& will continue. Greetings Collectors, Each time I post a journal I always say to myself, this one really needs to be shorter. I have never really forgotten a fellow collector say to me via a message, "I've quit reading your journals because they're just too darn long". For this I apologize. It is never meant to be that way but seems to always turn out that way. Oh well, that 'ol saying... "You can't please everyone. I'm gonna try to keep

WASHINGTON ERRORS & Other "Valuble Finds"...

I've shared this with some of you already... Greetings Collectors, Having "original bank rolls" on the brain lately, I just wanted to share with the rest of you that there are sill treasures to be found when "searching rolls". Up 'til the time our banks here in Fl. quit getting the new coinage, I would "religiously" get two rolls of each new issue. I really think the mint was directly involved when the banks quit getting rolls of the newly issued coins, cents through the dollars. It's kinda

ALEXANDER WESTERFALL COLLECTION

Two of the "top five" of favorites in my collection... Greetings Collectors, And fellow "silver lovers". I went to the bank today to drop off some Kennedy halves and decided to pick up a couple of my silver bars to bring home and "play with". (does anyone else have a problem like this?) Everything stays locked up and out of reach so it's only seldom that I get to spend any time doing such as this. I had just picked up the "ultra scarce" 20.41 ounce bar at auction from Alexander Westerfall Sm

FELLOW COLLECTORS HERE ARE "AWESOME"!

Trusting one another & haven't been letdown yet!!! We are a part of a special breed of "human beings". Greetings Collectors, I just got off the phone with a fellow collector here and we struck a deal on a trade for all of the "original" bank wrapped rolls of coins I had pictured in a previous journal + 16 original rolls of Presidential dollars. This will be the 6th deal I have struck with a fellow collector and I just want to share that we collectors are a "special breed", a "rare breed"

PASSIONS, How best to describe them?

Passions are many for some & few for others... Greetings Collectors, The passions I have had in my life are not that many, but yet I have never really thought about it, as far as counting how many I have or have had. Besides the three "F's" which are Faith, Family & Friends, I branch off into natural & tangible. Many of you know a great deal about my life, my up-bringing and my current state of affairs. With the health issues I have, and those I am facing, I've been doing a lot o

FIRST YEAR WALKER OF THE MIDDLE SET

I really think the detail on this coin exceeds MS-64. If it were sent back in, I'm confidant it would at least get a + if not a full grade bump to gem-65 Hello, Just wanted to share an obverse of my new Walker half, filling that very 1st slot in the "middle set. I think it's a "beaut". Happy Collecting all!

A "WONDERFULL" SITE TO COME HOME TO...

There is nothing like coming home and having some new "goodies" to spend the weekend with... Greetings Collectors, When I pulled into my drive this afternoon, there was a couple of the "big keys" missing from the large boxes at our mail kiosk. And when I opened my personal box, there lay one of those keys. My last barrage of buying earlier this week had arrived for the most part. I still am expecting a couple more parcels and they should arrive tomorrow, or at the latest, Monday. I traded a

WILL THESE COINS "EVER" BE WORTH ANYTHING?

I was "caught up" in the frenzy like many of you,...but... Greetings Collectors, I can remember very clearly the year was 1999. The State Quarters were about to begin. I had been buying "mint products" for at least 10 years and not just one, but several of each. My "mindset" was I had to have 3 of everything so that my three children would each be able to have one after I was gone. I ended up waiting too long to buy the proof sets in both silver & clad, and they had "sold out" for that v

WHAT CAN/SHOULD AN INVESTOR/COLLECTOR DO???

Do not fear what you may think as a bubble. It just "AIN"T so... Greetings Collectors, All of us have been following the meteoric rise in the materials our "beloved" coins are made of. This has me, as I'm sure, most of you, in a questionable position. I can say that of all the investments I have made over the years, that which I never really classified as an investment, has turned out to be the "most profitable" investment, at least on paper. I have tried to recall just what was my "mindset"

$1500 GOLD BY YEARS END! $30 SILVER???

I've had several past posts saying "Buy Gold Now". Do I still believe that? Greetings Collectors, The "broken record" continues. Yes I still believe in buying gold now. As I've said this ride is just beginning. I truly think that there will be a steady climb in the yellow metal with occasional 2-7% pull backs. One will be up-coming on Nov. 3rd just after the election. (just 3-weeks away from tomorrow) I also think that gold will reach $5000 in just 4-8 years and only then will we see some ma

THIS NEW SITE "IS NOT" FINISHED...yet

This is a feature that was ON the old NGC C.S. website but is still "NOT" on this, the "New One"... Greetings Collectors, I've been languishing of late, stuck at "ranking 247" and unable to even re gain the points lost on my Walker site points "downgrade", and even after a few additional coin purchases, I am getting only a little closer to where I was before The "Blindsided Daylight Robbery". SAVE "MUCHO" $$$ ON EBAY COIN PURCHASES!

Absolutely "EVERYONE" can save on not only your eBay coin purchases, but everything you buy on eBay. Along with many, many other items you buy elsewhere online!!! Greetings Collectors, In this economy, me trying to save money has almost gotten down to an "art". I have always been very frugal. I will still bend over to pick up a penny that's laying on the ground. If it's a quarter, I'll almost fight you for it. (not really) But you get my drift. A fellow collector here told me about a way I c

NOW! IT REALLY "IS" OVER...And On To...

More Dreams, Procurement, Completion, & on to the next one... And Congratulations To...Greetings Collectors,Well, after almost two weeks waiting for my last 4 1996 Silver Eagles to arrive, they finally did. I tried to strike a deal with this vendor who sold them because it appeared that he had several hundred. I also thought he had probably bought them back in the day like I had, and only paid $6 or $7 per for each but, I couldn't get him to budge off the $50 price tag for each. On top of t

A SET THAT GOES BACK TO MY SERIOUS BEGINNINGS...

I saw this album in the bottom of a box at the bank and thought I would bring it home for a day or two... Greetings Collectors, The set pictured is one that goes back with me to the early eighties. I haven't seen these since they were deposited in one of my boxes years ago. It was in a box I don't go into very often because most of the coins are raw and the majority of the box is rolled and boxed silver bullion. I had even forgotten this set was in there. But I had to get to the bottom (of t

BULLION, WALKERS, KENNEDYS & WASHINGTONS

What a "Grab Bag" of Joy... Greetings Collectors, I went out of town this morning and got back this afternoon and it looks like a trip to the bank tomorrow before work. When I got home, I always look to see if one of the keys is missing to either one of our "big lock-boxes" at our mail kiosk. This always means that in someones smaller personal box there is a key that will open one of the two "big boxes". Today was one of those days and when I opened my small box with my key, there sat anothe

THOSE "STOPPER" COINS WHEN BUILDING SETS

Every set has at least one or two... My 4 mint sets have a dozen or better... Greetings Collectors, I have cut way back on mt coin purchases and during that time I have had more time to dwell on scarcity, rarity & the costs associated in those "harder to acquire" pieces. I know that every set has a few of these stoppers but having been trying to build a few mint sets, every single one of these has the "stoppers" to beat all "stoppers". I have these 4 sets that are the most important to m

200 YEAR OLD LARGE CENT WITH XF- DETAILS

1810 over 9 Classic Head My first coin of any significance. I acquired it in 1963-64. Greetings Collectors, This is a coin my "Uncle Bill" gave me when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade. He worked for the railroad and he found this coin laying between the two rails outside the little south east Georgia town of Kingsland. It was by far the "oldest coin I owned then and it's still my oldest coin I own now. I can't tell you how many times I have held this coin in my hand and wondered how, why and w

NUMISMATIC HEAVEN ON EARTH...

There's nothing like having an entire afternoon & evening "wrapped up" in coins! Greetings Collectors, I took the day off to have surgery on my left arm today having a nasty place on my left forearm removed and then decided to go by the bank and get my silver eagle rolls just to make sure what I had written on paper, via inventory, was indeed reality. And I'm happy to say it is. All that I am technically waiting on is #4 1996 silver eagles to arrive and it will be official. When I was
