About this journal

I was born in Iceland and came to the U.S. when I was three years old and started collecting U.S. coins when I was eleven years old and I have been hooked ever since. I started collecting Icelandic coins in 2003 with the intention of collecting all the coins from the Kingdon Era 1922 to 1942 in high grades of MS-63 or better.

Icelandic proof coins

Thanks NCS Well my two Icelandic proof coins pre 1963, A 1957 10 Aurar and my 1962 2 Kronur that NCS conserved and was sent to NGC for grading came back a Proof 66 cameo for the 1957 10 Aurar which made me very happy and the 1962 2 Kronur came back Proof 63 which is not bad considering that these coins were not made in the best quality. All in all very pleased with the results. And I'm hoping to find some more early proof coins from Iceland. When I started this set I never thought It would be

RE. Broken Heart

No End In Site Well i got my coins from the post office this morning. And called NGC and explained to them why i don't agree with the grade and they said to send it in for a regrade and that the scratches are polishing marks that only can be seen with a 15x power loop or higher they told me that they use a 5x loop well i told them that they may appear as scratches not polishing marks as i only can tell with a 17x loop ,now they will charge me another 32.00 dollars for a regrade plus shipping a

RE. My heart wasnt broken

Stunned The 1925 1 Krona i sent to NGC and got the grade of MS-62 that floored me , this is a god like coin MINE compared to the one that is graded a MS-64 By NGC. I know the man that has this so called 64 and I have high grade pic's of the coin and in the NGC holder. Well if his is a 64, mine is a 69 which, will never happen for this type of coin from this year 1925 1 Krona. I missed the post office by 5 minutes so i am going to have to wait till tomorrow morning. I'm hoping its a error i

My Heart was not broken, but crushed

I know what Bruce means Well i got such a crushing feeling today when i went online to check my status on the three coins i sent in. Two of the three coins did very well but the one that i was thinking would come back at lest a 64-65 more like 65 only came back only a 62. Well I was mad as a bee if you could have heard me you would have run for cover. I was #*!^ en Mad. It should have not came back so low it has all the things it need to be a 64-65 for a 1925 1 Krona now i have a 1929 2 kronur

It Don't seem to be a good time for submissions.

I Hope things get better I myself sent out another group of coins out this week(today). This Time to NCS. And after getting dinner started I decided to check out for any new journals and low and behold Bruce is having a not such a good day as many of the other society members. I hope this is not becoming a trend or bad omen. Maybe it's one of the NGC Gods that frowned on us for some reason we do not know of. How do you appease a angry NGC God. Maybe just maybe if we throw our pcgs slabs into a

Waiting for the NGC gods to smile upon me

Ten Days To Go Two days ago I sent in the three Icelandic coins that I got this past month. Two of the three coins I got in the new york show this month and the other I won on ebay, they listed as a 1939 1 eyrir as a large three over a small three, now i know according to a web site that list's a icelandic coin collection that this man has. And in this listing of coins there is a 1938 large three over small three but no 1939 large three over small three. Since there is very little info out the

Maybe I was a little to harsh about rfar situation

Sorry Just a Short time ago I read rfar response to my journal entry in a email to me and i was very impressed with the way he conducted himself to me in his email. And I thank him for his well mannered letter showing me how respectful and gracious he can be. Maybe I was a little harsh to his situation really did'nt mean to be. I have been involved in coin collecting since 1968, all most one month shy of forty years and seen so much of this hobby go to the wayside because of all the BS that ha

What are the journals really for ,not a forum for legal battles

He Needs a lawyer not the collectors society's forum He made his point with his first entry about this auction house , which i enjoyed reading about. But lost interest after the second entry because it sounded to me that he was on a mission to destroy a auction house that he had a bad experience with. He should of made it short and sweet and to the point. Now being the auction house that they are and NGC being affiliated with them, he brought the possible chance of ruining this forum for every

Copenhagen Mint And The Icelandic Coins Of 1922-1940

Friend or Foe of the coins of Iceland While examining one of my newest addition to my Icelandic coin collection I thought of a few of the other 1 and 2 kronur Brass coin's that I either owned or looked at, and came to one conclusion or at least a thought came to mind. The Copenhagen Mint In Denmark produced some of the worst quality coins in modern times for one of its possessions (Iceland) I have ever seen, not that i have seen a lot of coins from around the world. Its just that it seams that

To Conserve Or Not To Conserve

Is It better to remove the tiny spot or not From my last entry of my journal I mentioned a coin a 1925 1 krona that was in beautiful unc condition. what i failed to say is that this coin even though it has a wonderful chartwheel, but seems a little dull to me and i think that maybe a little conservation may help it along to a possible MS-66 and or better. And having a brass coin from Iceland that I sent to NGC last summer for grading that came back a MS-62 with note attached to it saying that

Icelandic coin collecting not for the inpatient collector

Proberly one of the few countries that has a very small amount of coins minted (that is not enough) for a population of less then 250,000 residence of this small island country in the middle of the north atlantic ocean. Another words thier just wasn't enough coins to go around. Well this is my first entry in this journal, since I first joined the collectors society over a year and a half ago. I started to collect Icelandic coins around four years ago. since only having a paupers pocket with a k
