Coins as Gifts!

A great idea1. ....I just recently received my Coins Magazine, and they have some great stories about the history of giving coins as gifts. I started a few years ago, giving U.S. Mint Proof sets by the birth or marriage year. That didn't last to long, I guess people weren't jumping for joy. ....When I journeyed into certified coins, I started giving coins as gifts again. I gave my children (four) proof ASE NGC PF 69 or 70. My grandchildren (five) and son-in-law receive mint state ASE's MS-69

Latest Submission Return

Two at once!! ....Today the Mailman (for PC people Mail delivery person)had two boxes from NGC for me. Once from last week and one from this week! Talk about a sugar high, I knew what was in them, but still felt like at kid at Christmas!! ....Have you had time to visit Thomas Gilliams, One Coin at a Time Museum? This one is one of the first that I've visited since joining. Owned by a really nice guy, you won't be dissapointed! Since my last post I've had suggestions for other museums to v

MUSEUM of COINS

We are all building one! When we decided to join the Collectors Society and participate in the Registry, we embarked on a journey to build our own museums. The museums will reflect our desires, passions, interests and of course our money. While we are building our collections, we invite the public to come in and enjoy the journey together, and it's free! We tell them to come back anytime day or night and it's still free. Some of us are ashamed of our collections and have closed(OBSCURED) t

MOST AWESOME RETURN

HATS OFF TO NGC! ....You know you have an Awesome return when you purchase a coin that you think is the key to the set you're building. The coin arrives, and you say "WOW" this has to be a perfect coin. The coin is then sent to the grading GODs in Florida, and they say "wow" this coin is perfect! They say to the coin, now return to the Rocky Mountains and bring happeness. The Queen Mother has returned and is now awaiting to be taken to the dark hole for safekeeping!

HELP!

THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY

Five Bears ....My lastest submission was for my Panda Collection. Looking at the grades that have been posted, The China Mint must not do a very good job! Looks like the recall on toys should include coins. ....I really enjoy the Panda's, it's when you get a grade like this, you have to rethink your collecting style. The good thing it is a short set!

A Very Good Submission!

Oh! Canada ....The good folks at NGC have completed another good submission for me. NGC still remains the only grading company for me! ....I sent four coins in for my Canada Proof Dollar collection. Three of the coins I wasn't sure about, but felt the 2005 Canada Flag was a perfect coin, NGC agreeded. It looks like there are a few other coins in this set that will be hard to obtain, because of low mintages! ....My other two coins came out okay, but I'm always looking for a higher grade.

TEDDY BEAR!

This was the bear of my youth! Listening to the "King", sing I Wanta Be Your Teddy Bear, I figured if I had a Panada bear, I could get the girls! But, Panadas were few and hard to get. Now my small collection is growing very nice! I only have one lady to please now, and it will be Forty-Four wonderful years of marriage next month!

WALKERS?

Did someone say WALKER? The Walking Liberty half dollar was THE coin of my youth! Growing up in the 1950s and 60s, there was still a lot of walkers around for change, even though they had stopped minting them in 1947. This coin always stood out to me as something special, I really like the Eagle on the reverse. My goal is to upgrade my short set to MS-66, unless I win the lottery, then it's nothing but the best! I would think ALL coin collectors should have at least one short set of Walke

NEW BABY!

What a beauty! ....My newest addition to the family, isn't she BEAUTIFUL? NGC says there is a flaw, but I sure can't see it, but what parent admits to flaws in their little ones? She looks just like her brother and sisters. ....Tomorrow, I'll be sending some more brothers and sisters to NGC for them to grade and add to our growing little family of bears!

YEAR of the PIG

Just received! ....I started collecting the Australia Lunar Silver coins, back in 2000, long before I was aware of NGC or certified coins. I was paying $10 and $11 for them raw then, and now they are $20 raw! Good investment. ....When I became aware of certified coins and NGC, and learned a little about them I was hooked! I started sending all my raw coins to NGC, and was very happy with the grades I was receiving. The Australian coins were coming back MS-68 and 69. I didn't think there we

PEACE

Newest addition! ___Well today I received the newest addition to my Peace Dollar Collections. I'm not really a big fan of Peace dollars. I can remember growing up in the 1940's and 1950's and seeing Peace dollars. I always perferred the Morgan dollar over the Peace. During this time, my favorite coin was the Walking Liberty half-dollar, and is still one of my most favorite coins. The eagle on the reverse just stands out to me, and makes me think of how strong the USA is!

CANADA LUNAR

Just received! Dear Journal, ....Well today I received my current order back from NGC. I said to my self, self, why do people get upset with NGC. Self said, NGC is made up of human people who make mistakes, and will admit to it and correct them. People don't know how to react when someone admits a mistake. ....The first part of my order is two coins for my Canada Aviation Series. They turned out great. Looking at this series, I don't see any coins that are going to be hard to get. The

ANOTHER PANDA

Just received Dear Journal, Well the mailman made another great delivery today! Two Panda Silver coins that I purchase from EBay. I sure like the looks of them! I was watching a program about the ZOO in Hong Kong. They have a live Panda, worth over 1 million dollars, I should be so lucky.

JOHN ADAMS

Just received! Dear Journal, Yesterday, Friday, August 3, 2007 I received my order of John Adams First Day Mintage back from NGC. The grading just isn't turning out very high for these coins. Also, I still keep hearing that this will be the last year with printing on the rims. They are going to put in back on the front and reverse. So time will only tell how this series progresses. Today, Saturday, August 4, 2007 I sent off an order of Australia Lunar coins to NGC for grading.

First Day of Mintage I understand the Mint will not continue this design after this year? It is to hard for them to produce!

Last Week Wasn't So Good!

Had a death in the family. We received a call on Sunday that we needed to go to Montana, my wife's brother wasn't doing well. I received an E-Mail from NGC that my order was mailed Monday, July 2, 2007. I assumed it would be here when I got back from Montana. July 4, 2007, my brother-in-law passed away today in Montana! We returned home 6 July 2007 and on Saturday I went to get my order from the Post Office. Surprise it wasn't there! Well I did receive my order today, July 9, 2007.

NEW FOCUS

Canada Aviation Series Commemoratives Now that I've completed the Canada Transportion Series, I'm looking to complete the Aviation Series and Canada Proof Commemorative Dollar sets. I have enjoyed learning more about our cousins to the north, their history is very much like ours! While the Transportation Series had just a mintage of 15,000 for each coin, the Aviation Series has up to 50,000 each. So it should be easy to finish!

SET COMPLETED!

Another Great Job by NGC! This set is complete today with the addition of the 2003 HMCS BRAS D'OR coin added to my Canada Transportation Series#1. There are only 15,000 coins each in this series, this coin has only been graded by NGC 13 times with all PF-69 UC to date. NGC has been doing a great job for me, thanks!

Bluenose #2

A flawless coin, can't see how it could get any better! This is my second Bluenose coin, it is highly sought after in Canada. I think it might rival the 1995 W Proof American Silver Eagle in value in time! [attachment=:name]

RETURNS FROM NGC

Another quality job! I purchased this coin from a wheat farmer in North Dakota, and I sent it to NGC for grading. The farmer said his family wasn't interested in his coins, so he was going to sell some and go to Walt Disney World. I told him I've never been there, but I would like to help him make his trip, by buying one on his coins! I received an E-Mail from NGC saying they sent my coins out last Friday, I received them today! Again, it looks like USPS needs help! [attachment=:nam
