About this journal

It has been about 3 1/2 years since I posted anything in the journals.  Ever since I sold my 1959-Date Mint State Lincoln Cent Collection to purchase some land in north Florida in 2015 I haven't posted any of the coins I still have in my collection.  I see a lot of my old coins in new sets now and I am glad they have started to find new homes.  If any one you Lincoln cent collectors want to you can view the attached registry award link from my former #1 set and use any of the pictures that robec1347 took for me. https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/Coins/awards/WinningSetDetail.aspx?AwardSetID=59937.  Had just about every 1959-date mint state Lincoln in the top grade when I sold the set.  I recently added this NGC ancient to my collection.  Hope you enjoy.  As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

1960D Large Date NGC MS67 Red Lincoln Memorial- Population of 12

Also added a 1968D NGC MS67 Red Lincoln Memorial-Population 11 Hi everyone. I am still waiting for my 2 latest additions to be released to me so they will not show up in my registry set until the previous owner does so. The 2 latest additions will add another 239 points to my registry sets. Now for the good part. My favorite Ebay seller, yes GOTJACOLLECTIBLES, has these 2 coins for sale. The 60D Large Date he is asking $3995.00 and I paid $240.00 which is about $700.00 below NumisMedia Pr

Closing in On Number 1

The top is finally within reach Hi everyone. Tonight I added 3 new additions to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Business Strike Registry set and it finally puts the goal of #1 within reach. I added a 1964D MS67RD, 1982D Large Date Zinc MS68RD and a 1982D Small Date Zinc MS68RD Lincolns to my set. Thanks Mike for allowing me to add these 3 new beauties to my set. My next big purchase which if I find for the right price will be the 1983 DDR MS68RD Lincoln. With that purchase alone it would

No, Not Carly Simon's hit song 1970s Small Date Lincoln MS67RD Population of 4 or 5 Hi everyone. Yep, got the dreaded this coin is currently owned by someone else blah blah blah blah blah. I just can't help but laugh because we all experience it and we all know how frustrating it is waiting for the coin/coins to be released to you. I will give NGC credit though for sending out an email to the so called owner or they will release it to you within a certain amount of days. I have had other

9-11-01 The Day The World Changed Forever

Do You Remember Where You Were Hi everyone. As we all know the 10th anniversary of the day that changed the world for all of us will be commemorated this Sunday. I was in traffic that day heading too the Veterans Hospital here in Tampa when our local DJ at that time (Bubba The Love Sponge) announced that a plane had hit the first of the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center. Shortly thereafter they announced that another plane had hit the second Twin Tower and a plane also hit the Pentagon

NGC MS69RD 1992 Lincoln Memorial Population of 6

Thanks datentype Hi everyone. I just added this very nice example of a NGC MS69RD 1992 Lincoln Memorial to my registry sets. I did have a MS68 in this slot until I was fortunate to pick up this beauty. I would like to thank datentype for having some of the most outstanding coins on Ebay for sale at reasonable prices. This coin has a NGC population of 6 with none graded higher. The overall strike and characteristics on this coin are outstanding with beautiful red copper coloring. I will b

Another Example of You Got To Be @%^#*@! Kidding Me

Research and Knowledge are powerful tools Hi everyone. For those of you who follow my journals you know that I am mostly working on my Lincoln Registry sets especially my 1959-Present business strike set. Recently I added a 1985 MS69 Red Lincoln to my set. This coin has a NGC population of 6 with none graded higher. I was on Ebay last night going through the certified Lincolns that were for sell when I came across listing number 320564895317 which is for a 1985 MS68 Red Lincoln with a buy

What a difference $50 can make Hi everyone. I just added this nice example of a NGC 1985 MS69 Red Lincoln Memorial to my registry collection. I had bid on this coin about a month ago through one of the online auction houses and the coin did not sell. Last night this coin came up for auction again and I increased my max bid by $50.00 and was successful last night. It is one of 5 graded by NGC at this grade with none higher. The overall strike on this coin is outstanding with great eye appe

How about a nice big bowl of Cheerios

US Mint and Cheerios Promotion for the 2000 Lincoln Memorial Millennium realease Hi everyone, I just recently purchased this 2000 NGC MS67RD Cheerios Promotion Lincoln Memorial to commemorate the Millennium. This promotion was put on by the US Mint and Cheerios and approximately 10 million of these pennies were placed in boxes of Cheerios cereal. To date NGC has graded only 66 in this grade with 1 graded higher. As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting To see old comments for

NGC MS67 Red 1972 Lincoln Memorial Population of 15

Upgrading and filling in the blanks Hi everyone. Just added this nice example of a NGC MS67RD 1972 Lincoln Memorial to my registry sets. With a NGC population of 15 and almost half off the list price I could not resist. Not the highest registry point value but still top grade. A lot of the Lincoln Memorials from the 70's have low registry point values which I don't understand since most of them still have low populations. Still needed it for my registry set, therefore I thought it worth t

44,492 Registry Points down the tubes

After selling them off i will drop drastically in the points After tomorrow, when my Ebay listing for my Red, White and Blues II, III, IV PF70 UC Presidential Dollar sets sell I will loose a whopping 44,492. What is sad about this is my entire Lincoln Penny Collection is not even worth the registry points of these dollars. I have Lincolns with a population of 1 with none graded higher that are worth a 1/3 of the registry points. If anybody is looking for a steal on 49 Proof 70 UC Presidenti

SO WHAT ARE THEY REALLY WORTH?

NGC PF70 Ultra Cameo Presidential Dollars Like my fellow collector in the previous post I have decided to sell some coins from my registry set. Whatever I do make from selling these coins will be reinvested into my Lincoln Memorial Registry Sets. So my question is, what are the PF70 UC Presidential dollars really worth? Now of course when these sets are first released people are paying a premium for them so they can be the first to add them to there registry sets. I listed all 49 coins from

When a lower graded die variety is worth more registry points than a higher graded die variety

NGC MS67RD 1998 Wide AM Lincoln Memorial Hi everyone. My latest addition to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Set is a NGC MS67RD 1998 Wide AM. The registry point value in this grade is 351 with a population of 30 with none graded higher. This same coin graded in MS69RD without the Wide AM is worth only 288 with a population of 7 with none higher. The Lincoln Memorial has a few years that they designated as Wide AM variety such as the 1992, 1998, 1999 and 2000. They call it that due to the

Getting closer ever day Hi everyone, here is a picture of my latest addition to my 1959-Present Lincoln Memorial Registry set. About 16 more to add to this set and some upgrades to some I already have in it. The coins are out there that I need but I am trying to be patient so as not to get carried away when the goal is in sight. I hope you enjoy my latest addition and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments

15 out of 16 vanish off my TeleTrade Tracking List

What are the odds of that? I had 16 Lincoln Memorials that I was tracking on TeleTrade tonight and before the auction is even 4 hours old, Poof, gone and vanish go 15 of them. I know they have the right to set reserves on coins and I have no problem with that, but "Wow" what are the odds of that? In the mean time, here is a picture of a nice NGC PF69RDUC 1963 Lincoln I added recently to my registry sets. Time to go out back and enjoy the lake. As always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecti

Working on my picture taking skills Hi everyone, I hope all of you are having a great weekend. Awhile back I posted a picture of a coin that I took with my cheap camera and some of the responses I received was that the coin was out of focus and not centered. So with much practice I think I finally have hit on the right combination. I also found that the coins that I have in the edge view holders seem to be easier to photograph. Anyways, here is a picture of my NGC 1963 Proof Red Ultra Came

Starting on a new registry set Hi everyone. For those of you who follow my journals you know I concentrate mostly on Lincoln pennies. Having worked on my 1959-Date Business Strike Registry Set for the last few years I have reached a point where the last 20 something coins I need to complete this set are out there but I am having difficulty finding them at affordable prices. They are not even the most expensive. I have some feelers out and still have some money to invest from a large group

Over twice the price for the same coin

2011D Early Release Lincoln Penny I just added the 2011D Early Release Lincoln Penny to my registry set. I purchased this coin from a seller that sells on Ebay and advertises here on the NGC website. This seller had this coin for sell on both Ebay and his website. The coin listed on Ebay went for more than double the amount I paid from his website. This just proves once again that you should always do your research when buying coins. With the addition of this penny I have moved into 2nd p

Nice Picture This is a nice picture of my PCGS MS66+ Double Die Obverse Lincoln Memorial that I recently added to my registry set. It is one of the better examples out there. The doubling effect really shows up nicely in this picture. I have been adding some top notch coins to this set recently which now has me in the #3 position for my 1958-Date Lincoln Memorial Set. I hope you enjoy my coin and as always, thanks for looking and Happy Collecting To see old comments for this Journal en

Selling off my autograph collection and re-investing into coins Hi everybody. This is my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial registry set. PCGS population of 2 with 18 graded higher. The "WOW" Factor NGC MS69 1995 Double Die Obv Lincoln Memorial

Trying to fill in some of the blank spots Hi everyone. This is a picture of my latest addition to my Lincoln Memorial Business Strike Registry Set. Population of 18. It is by far the coin with the highest point value in my set. Picked it up the other night from TeleTrade and with tax and their percentage included still came out way ahead on this one. I will be adding a few more very nice coins to this set in the next few weeks. The coin is masterfully struck and has great eye appeal. I h

1960 Large Date Lincoln Memorial NGC MS67 Red

Good buy from TeleTarde I just added this Lincoln Memorial to my registry set. I bought it from last Sundays TeleTrade auction and paid $230 and after TeleTrade's fee and shipping it came out to $274.50. Not too bad for a coin with a population of 19. Just for laughs, there is a listing on Ebay right now for the same date and grade coin with a starting bid of $2995.00 and a Buy It Now price of $3295.00. Knowledge is a powerful tool when buying and selling coins. I hope everyone has a great

Do I Look Like I Was Born Yesterday

Don't be a chump Hi everyone. Was looking on Ebay today trying to add some Lincolns to my registry set when I came across listing number 200331820150. It is for a 2005D NGC MS69 Red Lincoln memorial. I made an offer for $95.00 which is a little over list and was rejected. I then realized the seller was asking $995.00 for this coin. Are you #%*@^+% kidding me. I ask the seller if I had misread the list price and his response was that this is a Business Strike coin and not a SMS coin. I

Filling in the blanks and upgraded I recently added this NGC MS65 1999 Red Wide AM Lincoln Memorial too my set. I upgraded from a PCGS MS64 Red 1999 Wide AM. There are some nicer examples out there which are harder too find so I am pleased for now. The registry point values on these Wide AM coins is very high. 1333 points in this grade.
