About this journal

It has been about 3 1/2 years since I posted anything in the journals.  Ever since I sold my 1959-Date Mint State Lincoln Cent Collection to purchase some land in north Florida in 2015 I haven't posted any of the coins I still have in my collection.  I see a lot of my old coins in new sets now and I am glad they have started to find new homes.  If any one you Lincoln cent collectors want to you can view the attached registry award link from my former #1 set and use any of the pictures that robec1347 took for me. https://coins.www.collectors-society.com/registry/Coins/awards/WinningSetDetail.aspx?AwardSetID=59937.  Had just about every 1959-date mint state Lincoln in the top grade when I sold the set.  I recently added this NGC ancient to my collection.  Hope you enjoy.  As always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

NGC MS66RB 1955DDO My coin of a lifetime and a new direction

New sets being added Hi everyone. I hope everyone is staying safe and warm with all this cold weather we are having. Even here is the sunshine state we have been experiencing some unusually cold weather this year. Most of you who follow me know that I am mostly a Lincoln cent collector. After completing my 1959-date Lincoln circulation issues set I was looking for a new direction to go in. At one time I did have a very nice short set 34-58 wheat ear. I sold the majority of those off at o

1923 Peace Dollar and the President Kennedy connection

Coin toss for the 1963 game. Hi everyone. Today the military academies of the Army and Navy are playing their annual game. The coin that was used today for the coin toss was a 1923 Peace Dollar that was to be used by President Kennedy for the 1963 game. The game was postponed and played a few weeks later as the country was still reeling from the assassination. A few weeks later Midshipman Tom Lynch received a letter from Cyrus Vance who was Secretary of the Army at the time along with the

One of the few in my registry sets Hi everyone. I hope all of you are have a great weekend. I recently sent part of Lincoln Memorial business strike registry set to a fellow collector to have them photographed. There have been some post on here about presenting a accurate image of a coin especially if you are the buyer. I bought this coin knowing that it was toned. 2 Major Die Cracks Hi everyone. There have been some post by fellow members lately in reference too images that show the coin for what it is and not trying to hide flaws and enhance it's qualities through various photo hardware. I recently stated in a previous post that I was having my Lincoln Memorial circulation issue registry set photograph by a fellow collector. He normally sends me at least 5 or more images for both the obverse and reverse of each coin. I know a lot of auction houses

TeleTrade too auction 2nd finest graded NGC 1955 Double Die Lincoln Wheat Cent

Makes my eyes cross. Hi everyone. In this Sunday's TeleTrade auction they are listing the 2nd finest graded NGC 1955 Double Die. It is only one of 2 examples graded at MS66 with this one graded MS66RB. Now this would be a dream coin for a lot of us Lincoln collectors too say the least. From the pictures I cannot tell if this coin meets the RB standard anymore but still a very impressive example of this error date Lincoln. With a starting price of $21,000 it is out of my ballpark for now.

Who Can Help Me With This Coin

1889 Guatemala 1/4 real date over strike Hi Everyone. As most of you know I collect mostly Lincoln Memorials for my registry sets. I belong to the Tampa Bay Coin Club which has been around for a very long time and we have an auction every month at our meetings to help raise funds for the club. I bought this 1889 Guatemala 1/4 real not because it fit into any of my registry sets but to support the club and also because it is silver and old. I paid $6.00. The coin itself is not very expensiv
