They still may be right, but they were wrong once before....
And yes, I'm still concerned about my 1954 proof possible "doubled" dime. I've written customer service with a "how can this be" type letter, and haven't heard anything back from them in 3 days, and now over the Economy EXTENDED timeline.
Remember back in the beginning of the year (I'm lucky to remember where I live) when you renewed your subscription to NGC and you got the American Eagle silver coin? When I got mine, it was grad
The coins came back as graded. The body bags were ok on two questionable on two others.
The coins arrived by the mail man in the regular Brown registered mail box today. I looked over the items and they were nice and fairly done. A couple of marginal items - 65 BR vice 64RB, The 1918 Lg S centavo was slabbed as Sm S, although a "regular" designation at no cost, coin graded correctly, but wrong lable. No surprises. ALL THIS AS A BIRTHDAY gift from NGC.

UPDATE!!! I have been corrected. Ceti Alpha 5 was laid waste due to an extreme orbital shift.. Laid waste but not quite destroyed. It would appear that I am in th
A nod to NGC just prior to beaming down to Ceti Alpha V?
Well, I?ve been either certifying my coins at NGC or purchasing NGC certified coins on-line for several months now, and I must say that it has been a very thrilling, educational, and expensive experience.
NGC has certified my coins on several occasions to date, and has always done so within the prescribed time and in a very objective manner. I have learned much from them, and now occasionally ascribe a grade to a raw coin that they la

Dilemma because of my lack of knowledge
I recently purchased the coin pictured below, an 1853-O with arrows and rays Seated half dollar. The coin has been artificially toned {very well and attractive...but not original}but it does not appear to have been cleaned under high magnification. It seems that whoever owned it before tried to hide a die crack at 3'oclock on the obverse and a die clash under the right wing on the reverse by artificially toning this beauty...It is in an ANACS holder as M
Wait a month and a half to find out....
...One of the 5 coins that I sent in for errors was an "actual" error. Some of you may of read my entry for my 1954 proof dime that I was almost positive that it was doubled in the word LIBERTY, not like the die shift or anything like that, but the letters being extra thick, and the 4 in the 1954 was messed up as well...extra metal if you will, and the 4 denting into the curve of the 5. Well, I just wrote customer service, and they did send the graders
Thank you jgrinz
Thanks for bringing my coin to life. The coin bears a pretty good resemblance to the actual boat. I had no idea of the background and now you have shown me the real deal. It just makes coins memoralize historical events that otherwise would be lost forever. Thank you again
I learn so much by observing these journal entires...
A journal post with a casually appended picture of a coin, an eagle eyed query, and a sharp response from yet another poster. These journal entries are a storehouse of knowledge. Thanks to all of you, I am that much wiser now? This is great!

I was looking over my collection and to my surprise my wife walks in.
Today September 7, 2006 was a very good day. I was looking over my collection and to my surprise my wife walks in. I thought Ut Oh..... I was busted, caught red handed, I felt like the boy with his hand in the cookie jar. Many thought raced through my mind. Should I ignore her? Should I play dumb? Should I lie saying all these coins belonged to friend? She seen the shocked look in my eyes and asked "what ya doin". I told he

What a community we have here. It seems like our family has become somewhat dysfunctional of late
Family members asking questions and getting shot down. Family members judging other journal entries without a license. If questions are not asked and answered rumors will rule. If folks don't feel comfortable asking questions then making up answers will have to suffice.
I too have a sketchy journal from SE Asia, thank you for serving my brother silver dollar, and after 35 years I still go back
and I have the proof of that...several from my vactions (plural) in a little spot is SE Asia...and I am definitly male...but boy did I hear some (read some?) interesting things today......
someone was wondering if NGC will slab the Shawnee and Creek Dollars from the Indian Nations? Arn't they under the So Called Dollar heading? huh, I wonder. Don't know, but would like to. Maybe my diary will come up with the answer. Also I picked up two very nice Patriotic Civil War Tokens today...for my
Journal land is like a magic show...
Journal land is like a magic show...One minute there are Journal entries, the next minute, POOF!, they are gone.
It seems to me, the real whiners are still here. The wrong Journal entries are made to disappear.
wait...wait... diaries are for GIRLS!!! Journals can be used by anyone... so... Dear Journal...
It would seem as though all is NOT well in journal land. Some people complain about other collectors who ask questions. They tend to think that if you use this journal forum that you should be the end-all authority in coin collecting knowledge. They think asking questions is a waste of time, afterall, they already know everything and do not feel like sharing that information.
Then we seem to have
sometimes a hasty buy is worth the lesson learned
Early in 2005 I had a Jefferson nickel proof set {1965-date} that was ranked #1. When the final 2 westward journey nickels came out and were appearing at auctions and ebay in PF70UCam I bought them to update my set. By July those coins were selling for half of what I paid..{and now even less}. I only collect a few modern sets now-and none of these are top-registry grade sets.I have learned the lesson, however, of waiting for that newly minted a

Joining NGC was one of the best things I have ever done for my coin collection.
Joining NGC has turned out to be a very rewarding experience.
First, it is a great place to learn.
Second, it makes good common sense to Register your coins in their Registry and have a permanent record of your holdings should something happen to some of your coins.
Third, they have done a terrific job of grading the coins that I have submitted so far. They are very fair and I believe that they are very accur
A "reverse"-able debate
Recently I have been diligently plodding away at developing a respectable "Jefferson Nickel" collection.
Imagine my surprise when I recently jumped from 51% complete, down to 47% complete! (the collection is from 1938-1964, so I didn't think new dates would be added)
Well, new dates were NOT added, but new Varieties were. We now have 6 new slots for 1939 - which is indeed more accurate.
My only real dissapointment was that they no longer counted the "plain old
Hang in there, its all getting better!
I dont think you should withdraw from the NGC registry it is the best , its great and they are working out a few issues to make it even better. That said we know you started your site with the best insterest of the collectors, and what a great site it is for all of us. Nothing like it anywhere for trading coin and making friends if a major grading service would have come up with it they would have hit a gold mind in public relations.I am sure we can all w
